The word Namaste is a combination of the two Sanskrit words: nama, and te. Basically, nama means "to bow" and te means "you." The Namaste salutation was transmitted from ancient India to the countries of South-east Asia, and has now traveled virtually all over the globe.

Spiritual Significance of Namaste:
The reason why we do namaste has a deeper spiritual significance. It recognises the belief that the life force, the divinity, the Self or the God in me is the same in all. Acknowledging this oneness with the meeting of the palms, we honor the God in the person we meet.

Namaste as a gesture is used to greet one another. It’s a gesture of respect that can be used globally between people of all age, race and gender. Totally encompassing the belief that “we are one.” Hands together at heart centre “represents the belief that there is a Divine spark within each of us that is located in the heart chakra”
The light and divinity within me bows to the light and divinity within you and all around you, always.
