Size: 40" W x 40" H (101 x 101 cm)
Delicate iris flowers are the inspiration for this artwork. The contrasting combination of blue and yellow, the delicate geometry of the petals, the lines of the tall stems gave me creative energy for this abstract painting. I chose not to depict exactly a bouquet of irises, but only to hint at the beauty of these flowers, at the accuracy of their lines, at the symmetry of iris buds. I kept the colors realistic, but placed them against a dark background and added light, sharp strokes that made the composition dynamic and expressive.
