My new serie of sculptures is a futher development of my old sculpture-serie.
My new serie contains 2 seperate figures in one sculpture. you can collect and turn the 2 figures so that you can shape the sculpture into different forms.

The exhibion will show new and older paintings.

Sculpturefestival in Thy sculpturepark

Sculptures made by 32 different artists from all over the world.

The artists are comming from
Australia, Malaysia, Germany, Belgium, Montenegro, USA, Botswana, Norwegia, Zambia, Denmark, Polen, Zimbabwe, GreenLand, Russia, Holland, South Africa, Iran, Tanzania, Island, Transylvanien and Kenya.

Mikala Lykke participats with 5-10 "turnable" sculptures from the sculptureserie:"Symbiosis / dobblefigures.

Each sculpture is deliberatly created, so that it can turn in 2 to 7 ways. This means that there will apear many sculptures in one sculpture. Each sculpture shows 2 more or less abstract people. The komposition for the sculptures are geometric forms like the oval, the rectangle, the triangle and the quadangle.

The exhibition ends at the 17. of october with a sculptureevent for children, where the children can make sculptures, inspired by the adult artists sculptures. There will be adults to help the children with there work.

Program the 1. of August:

14.00 welcome and official opening by the culture-chief from Thisted.

- a little something to eat and drink
- studying all the great sculptures indoor and outside
- a mermade from the sea
- a music surprize
- studying all the great sculptures indoor and outside again
- a choir from Congo
17.30 The private view, which is open to all interessed people, ends.

Among the sculptures are modelsculptures, torsoes, faceportraits and some from my new serie:

"Symbioses", wich are dobble-sculptures of 2 humans together. Some are erotic/ sensual and some more acrobatic. Each of the dobblesculptures can be turned in 4 to 7 ways, so that there are many sculptures in one sculpture.

Recyclesculpture

Genbrugsstationen (The Recycling Station), Lervangen nr. 1-3, 2630 Tåstrup, Denmark.

On the recycling station in Høje Tåstrup kommune in Denmark is a familyday taking place. Different lecturers are telling about compost and recycling among other topics

The multiartists Mads Dam og Mikala Lykke will on the day create a recycling sculpture from all kinds of rubbish and scrap iron. The sculpture will remain standing on a ground in front of the recycling station as an ever lasting memory of the day.The sculpture will be 2 meter high and 2,65 meter broad and will contain an abstract figure in a recycle triangel.

Fair Day on Amager Kulturpunkt, Copenhagen

I participate with other artists in the first out of 10 fair days, which are taken place this summer, 2008. You can buy food and something to drink and a nice enviroment with benches will be created. Also different kinds of entertainment will take place: live music, theater, fun for the children among other things.

I am represented with glass ear rings, watercolours, small paintings and ceramic roses.

Remembering Billy Strayhorn
feat. John Ruocco and Thomas Fryland

We are proud to present John Ruocco in Denmark for the first time ever!! He will give two concerts exclusively in Prøvehallen, an important event for musicians who are inspired by “the secret genius” – and a fantastic “once in a lifetime” experience for the jazz audience in Copenhagen. he concert will be a tribute to Billy Strayhorn, who was the composer behind many of the Duke Ellington classics.

The artists, who are going to paint during the concerts are: Jeff Ibbo, Grethe Tranberg, Mogens Kischinovsky, Lisbeth Meinecke, Mikala Lykke, Morten Bertelsen m.fl.

There are 3 ways that the artpainters interact with the music and the mucisians:

1) Artpainters painting in the koncerthall, insrirated by the jazzmusic.

2) Artbattle on 2,5 X 10 meter canvas in a hall, beside the koncerthall. More artists paint on the big canvas, and it is alowed to overpaint – to encourage and to coorberate. The audiens passes through this hall about 4 times during the jazzkoncert and will be able to follow the artbattles development omn the canvas.

3) Artexebitioni in the loby. The participating artists show 2-4 paintings each in the artexebition. Evt. The painting, which are created during the jazzfestival will also be shown here.

The artexebition ends at the 27. of juli 2008.
