I present you a portrait of Gustav. He is the owner of a small craft beer bar in the center of Stockholm. Gustav has owned his small bar for over ten years now. He was once an engineer, working for a large company, but his heart longed for freedom and creativity. After moving to Stockholm, he decided to pursue his long-held passion for brewing beer.
He started with small experiments in his apartment, and soon bought a tiny space in the city center, opening his own bar, which quickly became popular with the locals.

Gustav personally crafts unique beer recipes, drawing inspiration from the northern landscapes and Swedish traditions. His bar is always quiet and cozy, with paintings by local artists on the walls, and you can often find Gustav himself behind the counter, talking with guests and sharing stories about how each beer was created. He’s especially proud of his "Polar Sunset," a beer that tourists seek out for its unique combination of rare berries and herbs gathered from the Scandinavian mountains.

Despite the bar's success, Gustav remains a rather reserved man. There are rumors that he opened the bar after a great personal tragedy. Some say he lost the woman he loved, a loss that changed him forever, making him silent and reflective.

This portrait of Gustave is not just a picture of a man. It is a window into his world, into his depths, into his inner struggle and calm at the same time.
In this work I have tried (and hopefully successfully) to capture the moment-state of a man who has borne the weight of time, loss, joys and dreams on his shoulders. I love Stockholm, I loved walking there. The portrait for me associates with this beautiful city, something similar to my native St. Petersburg. Looking at this man, I wanted to convey not only his history, but also the spirit of the city. His face, it is not idealized, but there is magic in it. This portrait is realistic, rough, and at the same time incredibly human.

A dark, almost charcoal background, smoothly flowing into cold blue shades, symbolizing the Scandinavian sky and cool wind. And then suddenly - a bright red accent on Gustav's clothes. This is no accident. It is a symbol of his passion, of his inner fire, which, despite his outward calmness and detachment, burns somewhere inside. He is a symbol of a man who has gone through a lot, but kept the spark of life, the very spark that is reflected in every line of his image.

This painting will fit perfectly into a collection that appreciates the depth of human nature, stories and emotions. It makes you think, admire and most importantly, return to it again and again. Looking at this portrait, you don't just see the man - you feel his life.
