This is an airbrushed rendering of a young girl ...who is sitting in the early afternoon shade on the Mississippi Delta. Her face does not give away the slightest sign...nor do her mannerisms ..or pose. For she know quite well..that.."only Mad Dogs and Englishmen venture out into the noonday sun".
The photograph was taken by Dorothea Lange during the Great Depression for the Farm Act Administration in 1936. This is but one of the many iconic photographs taken by Ms Lange thru the 30's ...and into the 40's.
