Food of the Gods
It is not given to man to taste the food of the Gods
42 x 29.7 cm
2020
___
This series consists of collages made on paper. I used various materials: acrylic, spray paints, charcoal, colored paper, pencil.
I am creating this episode after visiting Museu Etnològic i de Cultures del Món
in Barcelona. I was amazed by the works of the ancient authors of Africa and Oceania with their power of influence. I will never forget the sacred thrill that arises when looking at ritual masks. It is not surprising that Picasso had a large collection of similar masks and was inspired by ancient art.
Large forms, different textures, bright colors of steel for my work. By combining these elements, I need to make him want to stop and take the time to communicate with himself.
___
Needs framing.
The collage is handwritten and dated on the back.
The job is well defended. The collage is placed between two plastic sheets, wrapped in plastic and bubble wrap and placed in a shipping box.

Mika was born in 1984 in Vilnius, Lithuania. She lived in Moscow for a long time. Currently she lives and works in Barcelona, Spain, from where she draws inspiration to create new works.
In 2008, Mika graduated from Kursk State University with a degree in Graphic Design. For a long time, she worked as a UX designer and Creative Director. All this time, she has been creating works, and focusing on finding her own voice. It was the history of art that became the basis for creating her view of the world. Mika works on environmental and destination themes through drawing, painting, and digital mediums. Her works are characterized by expressive lines and her shapes are influenced by different cultures, as well as a combination of both figurative and abstract elements.
Since 2019, Mika left her corporate career and devoted all her time to creativity, focusing both on the creation of paintings, collages, works in graphic technology, and on new media (her work can be purchased as NFT).
"Through my work, I explore the world around us, and study its forms and manifestations. I am fascinated by the energy of life, its movement, and its variability. But when looking at the outside, I am also interested in the internal processes of the human psyche. It is on the verge of interaction between the external and internal world that the plots of my paintings are born.
I am inspired by Mediterranean nature, modern and ancient jewelry, and Japanese art. A special place for me is occupied by the works of the peoples of Africa and Oceania. In them, I feel mystical power, close to the source of life on the whole Earth.
I simplify realistic forms, translate them into abstract ones; they contain something divine for me. Laconic forms and energy of color are the components that I never tire of combining with each other.
I mainly use acrylic, but in my work, you can see various materials: markers, ink, watercolor, pencil, pastel. For me, technique and materials are not so important as the energy of color, simplicity of form, and the state that arises when looking at my work.
I want to encourage viewers to step out of their comfort zone, to look for new details and motives that may have remained unrevealed even for me during the creative process; to be not just a spectator, but an active part of art, to be inside a painting, a resident of my world."
