Forest clearing. This an unusual theme for me, a bit out of my main inspiration from India. It was an oil exercise I undertook, as part of a creative class, back in 2009 in France. Forest clearing. This an unusual theme for me, a bit out of my main inspiration from India. It was an oil exercise I undertook, as part of a creative class, back in 2009 in France. But the theme is not anecdotic. The forest clearing refers to Dante's Inferno and his famous line : " In the middle of the journey of our life, I came to myself in a dark wood, for the straight way was lost". We all come sometime in our life to a dark spot where we feel that our way was lost. I experienced this and went to India in the middle of my lost way. And there was light like in the clearing of a jungle. This painting is an experimental oil work made on paper, glued on cardboard later.
