Michel Doret

Michel R. Doret s’est consacré à l’Art et à la Culture. Né en Haiti, il y a 74 ans, il a étudié à la Facultad de Artes y Arquitectura de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogota, D.E. et reçu par la suite plusieurs grades aux Etats-Unis, entre autres un Ph.D. de la Graduate School of Arts and Science à la George Washington University, Washington, DC.
On le rencontre, par la suite, poursuivant des recherches, écrivant et produisant de l’art, dans plusieurs lieux du monde, spécialement en Europe, France, Etats-Unis et Haiti. Des publications d’une création prolifique en écriture et en œuvres d’art ont couronné ses efforts. Il a publié récemment quatre nouveaux livres : Aliénation dans la poésie d’Haiti du XXe siècle, Frédéric Doret (1866-1935), Lexique créole-français et André Rigaud. La vraie silhouette.

For the past 30 years, I have been active in artwork, including, among others, photography, painting and video.
The quest for truth and visual poetry has been my primary incentive and reward, including also a permanent attempt to surpass what I had previously made in whatever domain. I didn’t thrive to faithfully reproduce what everyone sees in nature, but rather filter vision through personal interpretation, at the light of an international life of varied experiences through the cultures of the Old and New World and as much as I could, the spiritual osmosis with the great artists. I don’t regret to having made every effort to listen to the dictates of my thoughts, feelings and imagination.
My recent exhibits, further than presenting 30 videos on Long Island Public Access Channel 20 and some thirty Exhibits in Public Libraries on Long Island, France and Haiti, are at the Museum of the Americas, Doral, FL.
