I have attended many art classes in England and France over the years.
One day I came across mixed media techniques and collage and they resonated with me straight away.
Since then, this new passion allowed me to create pictures in a complete intuitive and free manner.
Like shapes appearing in the clouds, I was guided by the colours and textures on the canvas. Pictures were taking form in a very unpredictable way. A whole family of characters was born.
Then I decided to try these techniques with a more structured approach with still lives and nudes.
If you wish to read more biographical stories accompanied by 2 of my collages, you can check 2 lovely books published by the French collage Authority Artolle directed by Pierre Jean Varet :

The first book is a must for any collage artist. It is packed with collage techniques and tips and is beautifully illustrated.
The lastest book L'art du collage dans tous ses états is now (2009)available through Artcolle and describes the way collage artists came to do collage and what inspired them .
My collage titled African Queen appears on this 3rd book and I explain what triggered my enthusiasm on having sticky fingers and being obsessed by bits of paper !

From 29 January 10.30 the doors of the Salle St Esprit next to the church open to an exhibition of artwork from the Hangar artists.
It looks amazing as a total, the artworks are diverse and of a high quality and the theme 'Quel Cirque' has inspired everyone to think 'playful' which has led to great results!
Of course this is a MUST-VISIT exhibition - and we would love to see you all on the Vernissage on Saturday 30 January, from 12 noon - or on another date: we are open every day from 10.30 - 6pm!

I have decided to sketch on a regular basis and post my drawings and paintings. I feel that by sharing my own creative journey, I will be more motivated to grow as an artist and at the same time, I am hoping to inspire others to do the same… This blog is a super motivator for me and it is a lot of fun to do on a regular basis.
