Emerging photographer Maxime Follin develops a practice centered on the observation of industrial sites and deserted spaces. After an initial path in the merchant navy at the Antwerp Maritime Academy, he turned to photography as a parallel means of exploring reality and shaping perception. He works exclusively with a full-frame 50mm fixed lens to maintain a constant distance and stay true to his own vision. His focus lies on lines, forms, materials, light, and verticality (Kairos). Printing is a vital step in his process: each photograph is personally printed on textured matte fine art paper, with the intention of giving the image a physical, tactile, and lasting presence. His practice follows a slow and rigorous approach, born of long photographic walks—an errant method where each decision, from composition to print, is made to faithfully render textures as samples of the real.
