Matthijs Keuper blends the precision of engineering with the freedom of artistic expression, crafting works that push boundaries in both digital and physical mediums. With a background in applied physics and over 30 years in the LED lighting industry, his creative journey began unexpectedly in 1990 during an Art + Technology collaboration at Twente University. This project, exploring the concept of flight, revealed a fascination with the interplay between intuition and technical rigor—a theme that continues to shape his work.

After decades focused on engineering, Matthijs returned to creativity in 2012, experimenting with acrylic painting and discovering the joys of unplanned artistic expression. His process evolved into generative art, first exploring reaction-diffusion patterns and fluid simulations, which later inspired a line of laser-cut wooden puzzles. These works combined algorithmic design with tactile craftsmanship, cementing Matthijs' passion for blending the digital and physical.

In recent years, Matthijs has delved into engraving techniques, creating striking woodcut portraits that bridge AI, custom coding, and manual labor. His Linea series features intricate line-drawn portraits engraved on black wood, filled with oil paint to create a unique texture.
