Martin Pollak
Growing up in the centre of smoggy crossroad in Bratislava (still Czechoslovakia at the time), affected by insufficiencies of socialism and later by surplus values of capitalism, Martin is a long-time follower of freedom and subculture.
Within his artistic development, he had evolved from naïve art, 2D paintings and collages to multi-layered 3D artworks.
The integral part of author’s artistic work are his ceramic creations. During his ceramic period he had created many life-sized, almost surrealistic busts.
Martin comes alive via his passion to create artifacts from anything that comes to hand, mostly in form of the trash material.
Author’s style has by now acquired distinctive traits. The message he conveys, stems from deep feelings of living in the turmoil of the fast-changing world and the current social and environmental situation.
Influences affecting author’s work and soul: cubism, surrealism, trash art, punk, reggae, ska, jazz, funk … Picasso, Dalí, Basquiat ... The Damned, Dave Holland, Bob Marley.
Re-creative artist in his free time, Martin works as a creative chef for living. He connect his two passions and always strives to create an unusual artwork be it on a plate or on a canvas.

Veszprém, Foton Audiovizuális Centrum, Vár Street, Hungary
Happy to exhibit my artworks at Foton Audiovizualis Center in Veszprém (Hungary) as part of the #InterUrban2023 Project.
The exhibition will last for a week from Nov 26th until Dec 3rd. Prior to the exhibition I will deliver a trash art workshop.
Pictures from the events will follow soon.
Funky Monkey and Bruce Lee taking part in the Visual Arts Spectrum 2023
For the first time ever, I submitted 3 of my artworks to the regional competition Visual Arts Spectrum 2023 - devoted to unprofessional artists and their work (60th run of its history).
377 artworks by 115 authors were submitted, out of which 125 artworks had been selected by a professional committee for the regional exhibition in Bratislava.
Funky Monkey and Bruce Lee were among them. Funky Monkey had stirred mixed emotions, when some committee members considered it genius and some of them trashy. Well, it is trash art, so I take it as a compliment :)
Bruce Lee grabbed a lot of attention too, particularly for bringing some novelty into traditional waters.
