In the painting we see three girlfriends having tea. In the center, a fashionable urban girl with fair skin in an expensive hat and gloves looks at the viewer. She came to visit her grandmother in the village to spend her summer holidays here. To make friends, she invited two village friends to a tea party. Two girls put on their best outfits: a tracksuit and a wool sweater, made hats from newspapers to match the level of an urban fashionista. They may not know the rules of etiquette, they don't have graceful manners, but they try to keep the bar high.
The picture is permeated with a feeling of awkwardness: flushed village girls awkwardly grabbed the kettle, a bored urban fashionista can't wait for the banquet to end. But are external differences so important for a true friendship? Despite the dissimilarity, all girls have a lot in common: tenderness, desire for beauty, dreaminess, mystery. Perhaps the girls will realize that there is more in common between them than it seems and this tea party will be the beginning of a strong friendship.
