Years later studying at L’université La Sorbonne in Paris, Maria use the Color as her unique tool for highlight the human body in his paintings.
The purpose is to represent the notions of fragment and limit in these productions. The human body has limits and territories identified by the color. It is the color that determines the space creating volume, shades and tones.
Maria shows the human body in his own nakedness, it is when the human being is completely exposed, uncovered, and it reflects the life and fragility. At the same time, she reflect the strength that the human being is able to have thanks to their experiences. That is, a human being naked, unprotected, but covered with an armor of muscles in his upper body that he hasn’t acquired without effort and which are the result of their struggles.
In her oil paintings, she represents the human body, showing their weaknesses and at the same time his strength. In these canvases she reflects the different tones and shades of the human beings. She paint the skin with scars and memories in which the color is the main character.
Showing the body in their bareness she want to express honesty and frankness showing our nature as it is. Her aim is to represent the human laying bare his feelings, his emotions, capable of being unmasked and that the public can be identified with the paintings. She got inspired especially on the Louvre museum and Uficci Gallery’s body sculptures, also in Paris and Florence’s history tow cities where she had lived. Actually she is based in Bogota, Colombia.
