This artwork symbolises the profound transformation of typographic practice by ironically juxtaposing the limited options of Letraset rub-on transfer sheets with the virtually limitless possibilities of digital typography—including recent innovations such as variable fonts.

The composition resembles an original 1970s Letraset sheet but features the recently updated reinterpretation of Helvetica Now from 2021. Risograph printing was intentionally chosen for its analogue imperfections and connection to pre-digital methods. A bold Postmodern fluorescent palette—such as fluo pink, fluo orange, and aqua blue—echoes Postmodern vibrancy and contrasts sharply with the restrained colour choices of Late Modernism.

As the concluding piece of the Technology diptych initiated by Design Tools, Typography (Technology) encapsulates how digital advancements continue reshaping design methods, forms, and professional practices.

With over thirty years of experience in the creative industry, Marçal is an established graphic designer. Originally from Barcelona, he later worked in the United States before settling in London, where he now practises, bringing a truly international perspective to his work. His career, spanning over thirty years in the creative industry across studios, agencies and media companies, has honed his expertise in graphic design, balancing conceptual clarity with meticulous craftsmanship.

Excelling at translating complex briefs into innovative and eye-catching solutions,His artworks reflect a belief in craft that endures, translating complex ideas into physical expressions that transcend subsequent aesthetic trends. Beyond his career work in graphic design, he explores typography, illustration, photography, motion graphics, DJing and electronic music production, making him a genuinely multi-talented creative. With a hands-on approach, he constantly evolves and refines his versatility to keep his practice fresh and engaging.

An MA in Curating Contemporary Design (Distinction) from Kingston University, in partnership with the Design Museum, London, opened him a new path of artisitic expression, including the limited-edition prints featured in Art Majeur. Embracing a curator-as-artist role, he applies a curatorial lens that shapes each composition.
