Luis Vargas Briceño: An Artistic Journey Across Continents
Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Luis Vargas Briceño began his art studies at the age of 19 under the tutelage of the renowned master, David Manzur. During his training, he led a drawing group, allowing him to share his passion for art.
In 1978, he moved to Europe to continue his studies. In London and Cambridge, he was inspired by the history of art, but it was in Florence where he found his artistic home. There, he attended the Academy of San Marco and the Istituto D'Arte di Firenze Porta Romana, perfecting his technique in life drawing classes.
Florence became his workshop for experimentation, enriching his artistic practice. Upon returning to Colombia, he developed projects such as the installations "La butaca corrida" and "El ahorcado," among others, which allowed him to explore new forms of expression and connect with the public.
He founded the painting academy TRAZO and a sculpture workshop specializing in lost-wax casting. Currently, he seeks to promote his work through digital platforms, seeing them as an opportunity to democratize access to art and foster more direct interactions with the public.
His journey has been one of constant evolution, committed to exploring new forms of expression and sharing his art with the world.
