On the left, a figure with a human-like torso and arms gracefully extends upward. His lower body seamlessly transitions into pale, almost luminescent grey tentacles of a squid or octopus, creating a fluid and dynamic form. He reaches towards the surface, holding a piece of vibrant green seaweed, from which small bubbles ascend. Three bright orange fish playfully swim around him, adding a touch of movement to the composition.
To the right, the second figure possesses a muscular, human-like upper body, adorned with ornate golden armbands and a regal crown, hinting at a noble or mystical status. His lower half is a striking, scaled tail with intricate patterns of rich browns and shimmering golds, resembling that of an exotic fish or serpent. His tail culminates in a beautifully detailed, fan-shaped fin with a distinct texture. He reaches out with one arm towards the first figure, their fingertips delicately close, suggesting a tender connection or a dance-like interaction implied by the title.
The use of colored pencils in “Underwater Waltz” brings a remarkable level of detail to the scales, tentacles, and facial features of the figures. The technique also allows for a rich and layered depiction of the underwater environment, capturing the subtle nuances of light and shadow, and enhancing the overall ethereal and graceful atmosphere of the piece.

I am a Mexican self-taught aspiring artist, inspired by the richness of color but most of all, by the beauty of the human body, I’m in pursuit of depicting its enticing magic.
I became interested in art at a very young age, my father used to have some art books of Frank Frazetta, Boris Vallejo and Chris Achilleos. I remember being spellbound by their artwork, by the fantasy worlds they depicted but most of all by the beauty of the human figure. My father (a doctor) liked to make copies of those illustrations as a hobby, and sometimes, for whatever reason he didn’t finish them, so I would take them and tried to complete them, that is how I started drawing and coloring with colored pencils, as time went by it became a serious hobby for me, but school duties and choosing a profession took all of my time and effort. I went to the university and got a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. But my love for painting and drawing never went away, so a few years ago I decided to take it seriously and dedicate my entire time to it.
As a gay artist, I’m always in pursuit of depicting the beauty and sensuality of the male body, trying to capture his erotic essence and surround it with a halo of fantasy and mysticism and even some danger, and of course to tell a story, a story of seduction, pain and pleasure. I try to make the viewer to come up with his own idea of what is going on in each piece.
Being a self-taught artist has its complications, without an academic endorsement, sometimes I fear I´m not good enough or I feel I have some disadvantage, but it also encourage me to improve and give my best in each work; and of course there is the element of discovery of new techniques and approaches to painting, I try to learn something new every day, which I do by following artist like Roberto Ferri, Michael Breyette or Cuong Nguyen just to mention a few.
I don’t feel at ease if I´m not painting, it’s the only thing I want to do, I become obsessed with each work I start, wandering what will I do to make it work, what will the result be or if someone will like it or not. But now I´m absolutely sure that this is my vocation and purpose in life.
