Description: Hand carved from reclaimed sandstone, Here i have kept the original tool marks of the stone mason whose stone was used for a building. The figure has a quiet composed solitude to it. Its weight not only comes from its compact pose but also elements with the pose, like the heavy shoulder and rested head. Like many of my sculptures it invites the touch this time i feel its more of compassion than humor but still with its familiarity of consoling a friend. intentionally androgynous again like "thinking about it" for the very same reasons. With this piece I have intentionally left more of the tooling marks I made whist creating the piece to link back to those made by the stone mason who fashioned the block for a building. Aspects of the piece have been polished to create the feel that this has had many hands over it already so that it brakes down some of the barriers for its audience to engage by touch as well as visually enjoying it.
