Here women’s faces can be seen as symbols in various emotional states.
I refer to my images as mirrors of internal struggles, mysterious, concealing yet revealing at the same time.
I have not titled this series . The picture itself can speak a thousand words so why does one need titles.
An Artist since childhood Laila Khan Furniturewalla has trained in fine art from the Slade School of Fine Art & the Central St Martins School of Fine Art in London, UK.
She has held numerous shows & her artworks are held in many esteemed private collections.
Her work has been included in auctions, fundraisers & she has donated her work to many charitable causes in India & Internationally.
She lives & works in Mumbai, India.
My recent work embodies a certain spiritual power which has manifested due to my personal experiences of life & my reflection of its temporary aura. I emotionally connect through painting with the complexities & mysteries of the face as a work of art.
My vessel now has something almost meditative about it and it makes a strong reference & connect to the Elephant God in its shape. Its aura is the centre of energy & it radiates that, something that wasn’t clear in my work.
This embodies my search for the mystical & divine without boundaries & definitions. This is nothing more than my way of telling how I feel about life, about the soul of things.
I have transitioned from oil to acrylic, my art is meditative, reflecting a quest and drawing inspiration from the enigma of nature. I use reflective metals, light & pigment to create deeply layered, nuanced & emotive work.
The work is sculptural with their own meanings & contemplation.
