Née en 1957 et établie en région parisienne, l'artiste peintre autodidacte Leila Assmann, se distingue par son style singulier. Attirée par l'Asie depuis son enfance, elle commence sa pratique artistique exclusivement à l'aquarelle et à l'encre de Chine. À partir de 2013, sa palette se réduit à une gamme éclatante de jaunes, rouges et bleus, rehaussée par des touches de noir, sur fond blanc. Aujourd'hui, elle utilise principalement des encres acryliques et des marqueurs. Son style schématique, influencé par l'esthétique japonaise, est marqué par un esprit enfantin et un jeu entre l'ordre et le désordre, le plein et le vide, le dynamique et le statique.

La simplicité des couleurs et des formes parle de sobriété joyeuse. La peinture est pour elle une forme de rébellion permettant l’émergence de la poésie vitale face à la complexité du monde. Elle rêve du réveil de la créativité humaine pour un monde plus harmonieux. Inspirée par les haïkus, Leila crée des compositions abstraites captivantes. Elle espère que ses œuvres pourront également rayonner de cette même énergie positive et inspirer ceux qui les contemplent.
