Spectral Express 7 showcases a striking use of color inversion and manipulation, transforming a typically mundane rural scene into something surreal and dreamlike. The vibrant, unnatural hues create a disorienting effect, challenging the viewer's perception of reality. The composition remains simple, focusing on a solitary house set against an expansive sky, suggesting themes of isolation or abandonment. The color scheme, with its intense purples, oranges, and greens, heightens the emotional impact, evoking a sense of otherworldliness. Such vivid chromatic choices explore the boundaries between reality and imagination, encouraging viewers to question the nature of perception itself. The artwork's style suggests influences from digital art techniques, using software to achieve these vivid effects. This approach aligns with contemporary explorations of digital manipulation in art, pushing traditional boundaries. The piece is part of a series exploring different landscapes altered by color manipulation, each offering a unique emotional or psychological insight. Imagine...Lights dim as a slideshow presentation begins. A narration accompanies the images. "Enjoy a colorful look at modern resource extraction aboard The Spectral Express. On it's route between Drill Ville and Chainsaw Junction the coal fired locomotive speeds on with fossil fuel power. It is equipped with advanced spectral modification emitters that visually transform the damaged environment into a wonderland of spectral delights. This serves as a diversion from what's really going on and keeps those profits rolling in. The Spectral Express goes a long way down the tracks towards the destination of making greed and arrogance great again. The nation of the wealthy by the wealthy and for the wealthy will be wealthier then ever." There is a round of applause as lights brighten.

I think it's possible that beauty can save the world. Then will come a time when civility, reason and respect will replace fear, loathing and mad dog greed. Art will be life and life will be art. That's where I come in. I'm an artist. I promote beauty and creativity with an open mind and a love of nature. My imagery is built around a concept. After a central idea is established I explore possibilities within a set of creative and aesthetic parameters. From my perspective visual art is idea, expression, experience and process fused to create a perceptual synergy.
Nature has always played an important role in my art. In the late seventies and early eighties it was the focal point of several commissioned installations in Seattle and Chicago. During the next two decades or so landscape painting and drawing were my primary areas of interest. The work was exhibited in minor venues in Washington and Hawaii.
It was in 2005 when I bought my first computer and digital camera. The initial attraction was the speed that imagery could be produced. It was exciting to work at the speed of idea where the time span between concept and image was short. What followed has been a nonstop process of photography and editing. Presented here is an assortment of images that are a visual record of that activity.
