Eyo is a cultural masquerades that invite the world over to Lagos State, the Eyo play, figuratively represents CLEANSING the land, the sweeping away of adversity and the ushering economic vitality and good HEALTH. The play always depicts the RICHNESS OF THE YORUBA CULTURE.
The public appearance of the festival begins with KO PA JEDE, which is the ceremonial public display of the OPAMBATA Stick in their hand as the ceremonial staff. All Eyo must hold in their hand the Opambata traditionally staff symbol and Eyo festival takes place on Sunday that precedes the event proper.
The Eyo festival offers Lagosian in particular and Nigeria in general the acknowledged as a major economic growth and development.
