Hacker is an Elected Member of the Canadian Society of Artists and a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. Her artworks are in private collections in Canada, the USA, and Europe.

Julia Hacker's art and her life are intertwined. She desires to learn how to live in the moment, and to search for awareness. The artist draws inspiration from the immediate world around,  rhythmic changes in nature, close encounters with the vagaries of human emotion. While creating, the artist is thinking about the detached creative destruction in mother nature, knowing that eventually, it will bring to new growth.
