John Stevenson
The artist has been taking photographs since childhood, first experimenting in the early 1960’s with an Agfa Isoly roll film camera and producing square format transparencies in glass mounts. He first became interested in digital imaging about ten years ago. However, to this date he does not use a digital camera, preferring the disciplines and advantages forced by the use of 35 mm film photography. Formerly a member of the Art League at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Virginia, he held his first solo exhibition – “A Shifting Light - digital photorenditions” – at the Foundry Gallery in Washington D.C. in February 1999. Currently a new resident of the fine state of Colorado, selections of his newest work can nowadays be seen at the Business of Art Center in Manitou Springs, CO and also permanently at New West Art in Colorado Springs, CO. Prints have also been sold privately and additionally for commercial display, in both the U.S. and Europe.
