José Sintnicolaas is a contemporary Dutch artist, known for her expressive mixed media artworks that draw inspiration from nature and her extensive travels. After a successful business career, she pursued her passion for art, studying at the Academy of Fine Art in Belgium while also taking art history courses at Tilburg University. During this time, she joined a drawing club focused on nude studies, deepening her artistic skills.
Her love of nature, nurtured by childhood hikes with her father, has always been a central theme in her work. Sintnicolaas lived for a decade in Shanghai, Singapore, and Italy, drawing inspiration from these diverse cultures and the many other countries she has visited. She began her full-time art career in Shanghai and has exhibited her work internationally, including in Shanghai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
José Sintnicolaas is known for her use of mixed media, experimenting with unconventional materials to create textured and layered pieces. Her "Earth" series, developed in Singapore, is a tribute to Mother Earth, reflecting her deep connection to the natural world. Her works are characterized by a vibrant mix of colors and materials, with expressive use of palette and brush that captures both roughness and softness.
