I was contacted by a client looking for a commission based off of another of my works that sold, and, as I always do, I informed them that my process is very intuitive, yet random...a bit like action painting with a more emotional edge and idea of direction. These works are also subject to the process itself, so they can never be exact. With all that I had an absolute blast mixing these custom colors and literally digging and dragging paint around the canvas to create the visual effects fully on display. As for the theme, and as I did recently, who doesn't like to get dressed for an afterparty with great bourbon!

To Michigan artist Jon Parlangeli there is no other path but to constantly ask and then answer questions via different modalities within his medium. This leads to new explorative bodies of work offering differing styles, genres, or techniques that satiate his curiosity for the real and the abstract. Parlangeli uses both nature and figure as his muse often jostling between them during studio sessions in an effort to solve internal conundrums exposed during session. Standing over such processes is his artistic signature, color. Born partially color blind, Parlangeli uses color as his weapon of indelicacy often pushing beyond subtle yet achieving a cosmopolitan of sublime.
