L’ARTISTE Artiste peintre guadeloupéen né en 1961, titulaire du Diplôme National Supérieur d’Expression Plastique, Jocelyn Akwaba-Matignon réalise régulièrement depuis plus de vingt cinq ans des expositions ici et ailleurs où il dévoile sa recherche artistique sur les multiples facettes de ses origines. Son parcours triangulaire (Europe-Afrique-Amérique) à l’image de son logo, est une quête de l’Être, une recherche et un questionnement permanent sur la magie du monde et le mystère de la vie. Actuellement, il nous propose une traversée américaine avec la part amérindienne de notre « Être Caraïbe ». Jocelyn Akwaba-Matignon est un grand lecteur, il effectue aussi de nombreuse recherches sur la géométrie sacrée, les mythes de la Méso-Amérique, la spiritualité Amérindienne, la quête alchimique, la symbolique des nombres, la force de la Terre-Mère, le mystère des masques, sur ce qui est voilé ou dévoilé à notre conscience, sur l’illusion du monde visible. Il nous emmène dans l’interstice du subtil et de l’indicible.
Afin de commémorer le 130ème anniversaire des relations diplomatiques Franco-Coréenne, la Korea Foundation et l'Ambassade Française de Séoul présentent au public coréen les horizons culturels et artistiques français à travers les oeuvres contemporaines de Jocelyn Akwaba-Matignon, plasticien originaire de Guadeloupe. La France, gràce à ses territoires outre-mer est le troisième plus large pays du continent Européen derrière la Russie et l'Ukraine. L'identité multi-ethnique, historique et culturelle qui émerge de cette large terre qu'est la France est contenue dans les traditions, les inspirations et les philosophie venues de par-delà la France et l'Europe.

His triangular course (Europe-Africa-America) with the image of his logo, is a quest of Being, a research and a permanent questioning on the magic of the world and the mystery of the life. Through the research on sacred geometry, the myths of Mesoamerica, the native American spirituality, the alchemical quest, symbolic numbers, the strength of Mother Earth, the mystery of the masks, on the unseen or revealed to our consciousness, the illusion of the visible world, he takes us into the space of the subtle and the unspeakable with infinite horizons intersecting in the centre of universe.
To celebrate the 130 years of diplomatic relations between Korea and France, the Korea Foundation and the French Embassy in Seoul introduces the cultural landscape of France through artworks of Jocelyn Akwaba-Matignon from the French Caribbean Island of Guadeloupe. France with a number of territories outside the mainland is the third largest country in Europe after Russia and Ukraine. Emerging out of the large territory, the richly diverse ethnic, historical and cultural identities of France are merged together in the philosophic quest for the existence.

THE ARTIST
Artist Painter living in Guadeloupe, born in 1961, titular from the Higher National Diploma of Visual Art, Jocelyn Akwaba-Matignon has realized, regularly for twenty-five years, exhibitions here and elsewhere, where it reveals his artistic research on the multiple facets of his origins. His triangular course (Europe-Africa-America) with the image of his logo, is a quest of Being, a research and a permanent questioning on the magic of the world and the mystery of the life. Currently, it offers us an American crossing with the Native American part of our “Being Caribbean”.
Jocelyn Akwaba-Matignon is a great reader, it also conducts research on sacred geometry, the myths of Mesoamerica, the Native American spirituality, the alchemical quest, symbolic numbers, the strength of Mother Earth, the mystery of the masks, on the unseen or revealed to our consciousness, the illusion of the visible world. He takes us into the space of the subtle and the unspeakable.
THE SYMBOLISM OF HIS LOGO
At first sight, his triangular logo symbolizes his journey between Europe, Africa and America. No doubt, too, it symbolizes water, female, the trinity, the three alchemical principles, the perception of the invisible.
HIS CHARACTER : “KIOUKAN”
His “Kioukan” (Who—Where—When) imaginary character with multiple members and a strange head, became in his painting mystical consciousness who questions about our place in space and time, and is used to reveal or hide what we call reality, appearances. It is WhoWhereWhen the WWW circulating on the web.
