Biography
Jerry Hewitt was born in Guildford, England in 1948 and studied fine art at Cambridge art school during the late sixties.On leaving art school one always seems to want to paint a better world' however hunger and reality soon got the better of him and he embarked on a long and varied career in commercial art, founding the successful Commercial Communication design partnership. It is his opinion that the best artists work in the commercial field as one has to be proficient in so many disciplines.
After selling the business he moved to Cavendish in Suffolk and on the suggestion of his children started painting again so they could adorn the walls of their 'Dish' restaurants . He has since met and married his wonderful wife Wendy and has moved to Portugal.
His major inspiration has primarily been music and a fascination with the visual ambience that it creates. This brings a feeling of motion and a depth of passion to his work.
He has exhibited in London. a shared show in New York and locally in Suffolk as well as in Portugal.

You may not Rember me but you painted Louis Armstrong painting for me in 2004 and it was for our house in Italy we just love it and have been trying to find a print of it as we would love to bring him home to our new house in the uk but would like the print to replace the painting Italy

you can fool some of the people some of the time but you can't fool all of the people all of the time! Kidding of course, very very impressed, you should have taken your Art more seriously many years ago! Love it! Now get back to work!!

We had dinner in the Dish a couple of years ago and were so taken with three paintings of the Rolling Stones - minus Charlie unfortunately - that we purchased them. They now hang in our house in South Carolina. Great comments from friends
P.S The food at the Dish was also very good.
Hi Jerry. I am a friend of Julias, and I have been taking a look at your work this evening. I have to say that I thought the works were super. I am not an art afficianado or anything like that, but I know what I like, and your work is what I like.
I visited the Dish in Dunmow for the first time and found the artwork fascinating. I was particularly mesmerized with the Johnny Cash portrait to the point where I probably paid more attention to that then the friends I was with!!. The detail and character in his face was incredible. Sadly your artwork is out of my price range but at least I know where to go to gaze at it.
