Jeff Arnett is a contemporary American sculptor whose artistic journey began with an early fascination with stone. He recalls the arrowheads his father found in Alabama and later gave to him as a child, which sparked his curiosity about how stone could be shaped to meet human needs. This interest deepened during his first studio art class at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), where he discovered his passion for sculpting with clay, wood, and wax.
Under the mentorship of art professor and sculptor Doyle Foreman, Arnett pursued an art major at UCSC, and later, a UCSC Extension class introduced him to working with stone. His involvement in Open Studios, where he engaged directly with the art public, greatly influenced his approach, inspiring him to refine his technique and take on larger projects. One notable work includes a large marble sculpture created for the UCSC Arboretum, followed by a series of large "garden" sculptures.
Throughout his career, Arnett has expanded his medium to include bronze, wood, and found art. His sculptures are now held in private collections across California, Utah, Texas, New York, and Europe.
