Jan Van Aalst
Jan van Aalst is an autonomous photographer based in Bergeijk.
Jan van Aalst has always been fascinated by photography. As a child, he was allowed to look over his father's shoulder while photographing and filming. He received his first camera, a Baby Brownie Special, at a young age. That was his start as a photographer.
After his photography training and further specializations, he eventually established himself as an autonomous photographer in Bergeijk.
In his autonomous work he mainly focuses on playing on reality. The essence of his photography is capturing that reality in an image and adding a dimension to it. The end result is therefore not always recognizable.
The aim of dealing with reality in this way is to challenge people to look at an image longer and investigate it.
Recurring themes in his work are abstraction, form, movement and light.
