Saint George (2002) Scultura da Siko

The artist Georgios Sikomitellis was born in 1970 at the island of Lesvos. He studied detailed Woodcarving and Freehand drawing, for three years, at Kalabaka’s public school, since then he lives and creates at Lesvos, having his studio at the village of Asomatos.
He presents us at ”wood reading”, where the knobs of the wood play basic part on the genesis of the art piece stating it unique, other times by supporting the practical use of it and other the artistic.
His work decorates private collections and business buildings. He has taken part in twenty-five personal, as well as group art exhibitions and he teached at the students of the multidisciplinary school in Kalloni, for a year.
Further more he designed the scenography and made the sets for two theater plays: “The stars thief” and “ Aristophanes’ Irene”. He established a Puppet troupe with which he performed at schools, coffee bars and the street. In extension he successfully took part for two years at the world festival for Puppet and Mime at Kilkis, where he also took a seminar on “Objects Animation”.
Epitome of his carrier comes with his participation as a guest artist at the Norwegian festival of art, where working on the theme “The sound of peace” he creates a unique instrument that plays by the air, called “Arpati”. The last five years he studies music at the “Center of studies on eastern music”
