The Blue Moon usually comes to us in songs and other long stories as a symbol of sadness or madness. In this sense, it is similar to the full Moon, the legend has it, forcing unbalanced individuals to make forays to the rooftops. The truth is that many of the ash particles that spread throughout the Earth's atmosphere were about 1 micron - just the size to disperse the red light, allowing other colors to pass freely. The white Moon turned blue, sometimes green. People also saw a lavender Sun and the clouds in a lavender glow at night. This is a fantastic effect!
In contrast to the visible celestial bodies, the sky can paint itself in red tones. The Krakatoa volcano explosion painted sunsets so violently red that fire engines were called up in New York and other places to suppress an obvious blaze a few miles away from the city. One-micron ash particles caused this commotion. Interestingly, particles that are slightly smaller or slightly larger are not able to create this effect.
Rare Blue Moons were seen. NASA experts say that on July 31, 2004, a real Blue Moon returned to the United States. Forest fires are one of the potential suppliers of Blue Moons and Lilac (sometimes Green) Suns. Blue Moons in the Earth's sky happened, as did the Lilac Sun in zenith. The inhabitants saw the Blue Moon of the entire planet after the famous explosion of the Krakatoa volcano in 1883. However, Blue Moons were seen later, too. For example, on September 23, 1950, several peat underground fires that had been quietly smoldering for several years in Alberta, Canada, suddenly exploded with powerful and very smoky flames. The wind carried the smoke eastward and southward at an unusual speed, and the fire generated a large number of 1-micron oil droplets. Wherever the smoke and the ash were scattered, a lavender (lilac) or blue Sun could be seen.
My paintings are securely packaged to make sure they reach you safely. All my pictures are ready to hang, wired with a steel cord. In fact, I usually provide hanging cords on more than one side of the picture because you may wish to hang it upside down or on the side – geometric abstraction is benign to orientation change.
This picture is painted on stretched gallery wrap linen canvas. There is no need to frame because the edges are painted.
Signed, titled, and dated on the back.
The picture comes with a certificate of authenticity. I sign my artworks on the back, to avoid unbalancing the subtle composition by an artifact like a signature.
