Maurizio Capisani

I'm an artist who creates unique pieces from recycled materials such as wood, iron, steel, and brass components. The coloring technique I use is the result of personal experimentation: I recover printing ink from the pages of IKEA catalogs—true "manuals of contemporary living"—transferring it to surfaces through a process that combines erosion, absorption, and layering. This method gives the surface a unique texture and a slightly faded or "worn" appearance, which adds character to the work. The variations in hue and possible traces of underlying text or images make the piece a small fragment of recycled history. The result is a vibrant, uncertain skin of color, in which the artisanal gesture combines with the randomness of recycling. This unique process contributed to the name of my brand, Likeatattoo, which in English means "like a tattoo."
