It's not technically a drawing but a batique on paper work with elements of drawing. I like this technique because of the antique effect it gives.
This work was inspired by famous icon "Transfiguration of Jesus" by Theophanes the Greek. According to the New Testament Jesus and three of his apostles, Peter, James, and John,[...]
It's not technically a drawing but a batique on paper work with elements of drawing. I like this technique because of the antique effect it gives.
This work was inspired by famous icon "Transfiguration of Jesus" by Theophanes the Greek. According to the New Testament Jesus and three of his apostles, Peter, James, and John, went to a mountain (the Mount of Transfiguration) to pray. On the mountain, Jesus began to shine with bright rays of light. Then the prophets Moses and Elijah appeared next to him and he speaks with them. Jesus is then called "Son" by a voice in the sky, assumed to be God the Father.
This moment is very important in Christian theology because it's the point where human nature meets God, the temporal meets the eternal and Jesus is the connecting point between heaven and earth.
I also have another artwork inspired by this important moment of the Bible - called "Butterfly" (acrylic on canvas), that you can find in my portfolio.
