In the series of paintings "Crossroads" I visualize mental and emotional processes in a form of archetype symbol of crossroads. I prefer large dimensions of paintings since they, like cinema canvas, introduce public with the story of crossroads and roads interweaving and result in life dilemmas, choices and eternal question - are we on the right pathway?

Growing - up in a soc - realistic architecture type of identical buildings, in New Belgrade, my first series of paintings "Repetitions" was developed. By rhythmical repetitions of the same elements of composition, I pursue to provoke aesthetic experience opposite to monotony which repetitions usually cause.

I open my eyes and watch the world around me. I breathe it in, absorb it, let it arouse all my senses. The felling is kept deep inside myself, to be subsequently painted. I make a colour imprint of the impressions and allow light to enter my world. Like a stained-glass, I turn it into a living picture which is not at a standstill, being sometimes much more optimistic than the world actually is.

Biography
Mila Gvardiol is a Serbian artist born in 1979 in Belgrade, Serbia. She graduated in 2004 from the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade, and earned her Ph.D. in Digital Art from the University of Arts in Belgrade in 2012.
Since 2006, Mila has been an active member of the Association of Fine Artists of Serbia (ULUS) and joined the Association of Applied Arts Artists and Designers of Serbia (ULUPUDS) in 2011. She currently holds the position of Associate Professor and serves as the Acting Dean at the Faculty of Digital Production in Sremska Kamenica. From 2015 to 2023, she taught at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade.
Throughout her career, Mila has showcased her work in 41 solo exhibitions and participated in over 300 group exhibitions. She is actively involved in art colonies and digital art festivals, and her work has been recognized and awarded multiple times.

Education:
2004. She graduated from the Faculty of Applied Arts and Design in Belgrade, Department wall painting under Professor Slobodan Djurickovic
2012. She finished Ph.D. degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, University of Arts in Belgrade in the Department of Digital Art
She holds the position of Assistant professor at the Faculty of Digital Production in Sremska Kamenica, Serbia
