This painting was born from a moment of absolute distress, an instant in which the soul seemed lost in the shadow of torment. These are the moments when anguish consumes us, when hope becomes a distant whisper, and the weight of existence presses upon us. In despair, a dialogue emerges between the deepest parts of our being and our Creator: "Why are you downcast, O my soul, and why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him for the salvation of His presence. My God, my soul is cast down within me." (Psalm 42:5-6).
The creative process reflected that fragmented state of consciousness. There was no planning, no absolute control over technique—only the urgent need to externalize the pain, to let the canvas become a witness and confidant to an internal struggle that could not be expressed in words. The painting emerged from a place of disconnection, as if it were not my hand guiding the brush, but the very torment manifesting itself through me.
The atmosphere of the work is a true mirror of that sentiment: the face, submerged in a blend of light and shadow, reflects the ebb and flow between despair and faith, between doubt and the search for solace. The gaze, intense and profound, carries the echo of a question that resonates in the deepest parts of the soul. The texture and contrasts of color add a tangible emotional weight—this is not merely an image but a confession, a silent plea, a surrender to emptiness and hope simultaneously.
It is an indelible mark of an utterly vulnerable moment. A testimony to the battle between anguish and faith, a reflection of the soul that, even in its sorrow, seeks the light that cannot be extinguished.

Born in Havana, Cuba, in 1975, Glenda Padrón is a visionary artist committed to creating a social legacy through her work. Her passion for art was evident early, leading her to pursue studies at the José Antonio Díaz Peláez Elementary School of Art. She later attended the Higher Institute of Art, specializing in Scenic Design, but ultimately chose a nontraditional path, opting not to complete her formal studies. During this formative period, she honed her craft and developed her unique artistic voice through participation in the esteemed Manero Art Workshop. Driven by a profound need for freedom and self-expression, Glenda emigrated to the United States and embarked on a flourishing artistic career. Her work delves into figurative expressionism, capturing the intricate tapestry of human emotions and experiences. Through distorted forms, Glenda masterfully conveys the depth and complexity of feelings, inviting viewers to reflect on their emotional landscapes. Texture and color are pivotal in her creations, forming a rich visual language that evokes robust emotional responses. She transforms her work into a medium for shared introspection and understanding by forging a deep connection with her audience. Over the years, Glenda's talent has been celebrated in numerous exhibitions, including showcases in Havana, Montevideo, Uruguay, and Miami. Her most recent achievement is participating in the prestigious Venice Biennale, where her art received international recognition. Today, Glenda Padrón continues to dedicate her life to pursuing artistic excellence. Through her innovative and evocative pieces, she strives to leave an indelible mark on society, exploring the universal themes of human emotion and experience in a way that resonates deeply with all who encounter her work.
