They first began to develop in the early years of 2000's.
These high relief paintings are born from the artist's need to escape from the conventional flat plane in order to create a volume that can be perceived sideways.
These art pieces have a completely different aspect according to the angle at which you look at it, or how the light is projected on them. Gaston Charo's experimentation started by giving a rock-like texture to his characters, and have now evolved into his current work.
They are original and unique pieces that create a fusion between both sculpture and painting on canvas.
Mixed materials and techniques used to create a 3d images, a mixture between a sculpture and a painting. If light is projected from different angles it creates a whole different image produced by different shadows on it.
