Shunga is one of the oldest settlements on the Zaonezhsky peninsula. The first mention of the Shungi churchyard in 1375.
Shungsky churchyard was decorated with three wooden churches.
During its history, as is known from the documents, Shunga burned three times.
In 1941, the war began, and during the retreat, Shunga was set on fire - for three days and three nights a light was burning over the village. The inhabitants of the surrounding villages with tears looked at this terrible sight. Everyone felt sorry for Shung with her solid buildings.
