The young Boudin was born on July 13, 1824, in Honfleur. When he was 11, he moved to Le Havre with his family. He learned how to print and in 1842 opened a paper store where he sold paintings by Millet and other artists. Boudin learned to paint when he was young, and after getting a scholarship in Paris, he did nothing but paint. After living in the capital city for three years, the painter went to France and Italy. He also went to Holland and Belgium. Boudin died August 8, 1898 in Deauville.
Boudin liked many different things about nature. So, he mostly painted landscapes, like the sea with clouds and the light that goes with it. Later, he painted pictures of people's lives, which were always set in nature. His style paved the way for the impressionist style that Claude Monet would later use.
