Maika
Venezuelan.Lives and works in Paxos, Greece.
I was born on this planet, I am from where I put my feet and look at the sky. Painter and Artist for Peace, Venezuelan, with Spanish roots. Universal Citizen. Painting since I was 4 years old. Art is an open door where emotions, feelings, ways of seeing life and even aspects contrary to the way of feeling enter.Any surface is suitable for painting, this is how I express my concerns, my inspiration, on canvas, wood, stone, because it is not the material that makes the painting but the expressed meaning and the expressed feeling. In my works I evoke a lot of spirituality, woven through innocent faces, almost human angels, infinite seas whose blue is lost beyond the immensity, jungles, horses, mermaids, fish. I paint dreams, stories, as a way of communicating what I feel. Telling stories is my main motivation, my biggest inspiration
Maika is one of the most important artists of Venezuela, representing Art Naïve. Her creative expression and technique, much influenced by Marc Chagall, reflect spirituality through her paintings of angels, Saints and Virgin women, always surrounded by colourfull natural elements as flowers, fruit, birds or fish. Maika`s favorite material is wood, on which she paints her poetic synthesis, paying homage to the connection between humanity and nature.
