Sophie Barut is a contemporary French sculptor. She makes bronzes using the "lost wax" technique, in partnership with the Adobati foundry (Drôme). Her work frequently explores topics such as fragility, childhood, balance in life, handicap, the vital force hidden at the bottom of each one, the beauty of friendship and love. She defines herself as the sculptor of fragility, considering that her artistic fragility is essential in this world where omnipotence prevails.
Sophie Barut was born in 1972, in France, where she got her Diplôme des Arts Appliqués de la ville de Lyon; Diploma in interior architecture from the School of Applied Arts in Lyon and finished Sculpture course with the Lyon sculptor Marc Saint Pierre.
