Johannes Vermeer is a 17th century Dutch painter, born in 1632 in Delft and died in 1675. He is best known for his scenes of everyday life, often depicting women in bright and calm interiors. Despite his short career and the small number of works he produced, Vermeer is today considered one of the most important and talented artists of the Dutch Golden Age.
