What inspired you to create art and become an artist? (events, feelings, experiences ...)
An example of inspiration in choosing an artist as a career was my teacher at a children's art school, he showed me the world - he taught me to see beauty. This was achieved by the fact that I often went to draw sketches. This developed a view of beauty. I watched my teacher choose the main elements based on nature, and over time I learned to choose the composition myself. When I attended an art school for children, I became interested in drawing and realized that it is not such a simple thing. In the process of learning, drawing became more and more interesting for me. And that led me to start creating artwork.
What is your artistic background, what techniques and subjects have you experimented with so far?
I have experimented with techniques: Alla prima, oil painting, watercolor, glaze painting, dry brush technique, graphics.
My themes in painting, which I experimented with: Fairy tale compositions, still life, landscape.
What three aspects distinguish you from other artists and make your work unique?
Individually developed technique (Alla prima + watercolor + pigment + varnish + pasty oil painting), in addition, the vision of the depicted object was developed based on the compositional techniques of film director Andrey Torkovsky.
Where does your inspiration come from?
Inspiration arises in the process of working on a painting. When I encounter difficulties and overcome them. When I'm in a good mood, inspiration comes on its own.
What is your artistic approach? What visions, sensations or feelings do you want to evoke in the viewer?
I want to reveal my inner experiences from my childhood. For example, the first impression a person gets when he sees the sea or a blossoming apple tree. I want to awaken childhood memories of nature.
What is the process of creation of your works? Spontaneous or with a long preparation process (technical, inspiration from art classics or other)?
The process of creation of my works begins with the choice of a theme. Then about 10 sketch options are created. From these, the best one is selected. Based on this selected option, a watercolor solution for this composition is created. Then, the composition and the color solution are transferred to the canvas using a proprietary technique. Once the painting is finished, minor adjustments are also made within a month. After the painting is finished, it is painted. I'm inspired by the action, not by classical art.
Do you use a particular working technique? If so, can you explain it?
My own technique consists of: a watercolor preliminary drawing, on which the next layer of pigment and varnish is applied. Then the next layer of pasty oil. Then everything is painted. Such a multi-layered approach makes it possible to express the depth of the space as well as possible.
Are there any innovative aspects to your work? Can you tell us which ones?
I choose the elements of the compositions from my own sketches according to the collage principle. For example, I take 10 thematically different etudes and create a common composition from them. This is my own solution.
Do you have a format or medium that you feel most comfortable with? If so, why?
I use Galerie Dirk Nudel (www.galerie-nudel.de) as my medium of communication.
Where do you produce your works? At home, in a shared workshop, or in your own workshop? And how do you organize your creative work in this space?
I work in my own workshop with a minimal number of things, so I can focus on my work as much as possible.
Does your work take you traveling to meet new collectors, for fairs or exhibitions? If so, how does it benefit you?
Traveling allows me to expand my understanding and perception of the world and learn about a different philosophy of life and a different culture. Being able to evaluate myself from the point of view of a different life and art. Traveling helps to find new collectors.
How do you envision your work and career as an artist developing in the future?
I want to create a work of art that will go down in the history of my hometown and my country.
What is the theme, style or technique of your latest artistic production?
Composition work on the theme of Andersen's fairy tale "The Little Mermaid", creating my own image of a little mermaid surrounded by sea creatures, technical solution, own execution technique, sublimation of translucent watercolor layers plus oil painting, use of pigment and varnish.
Can you tell us about your most important trade show experience?
The most important experience in a trade show is when you can look at your pictures as if, from the outside, outside the workshop, the defects that you don't see in the workshop immediately catch your eye at the trade show, and that's a great experience. This factor must be constantly taken into account.
If you could have created a famous work in art history, which one would you choose? And why?
I choose the painting "The Last Day of Pompeii" by Karl Bryullov, painted in Italy. The ideal form of not only a compositional, but also a color solution to create such a painting will be the crowning achievement in the work of any artist.
If you could invite a famous artist (dead or alive) to dinner, who would it be? How would you suggest he spend the evening?
Of all the famous artists, I would love to meet Rembrandt. I would spend the meeting in the atmosphere of his works at a noisy, joyful party and talk to him about his late creative period, which I consider the peak of mastery in art.
