About the author
Anne Langérôme, born in Sarcelles, near Paris, in 1967, has been immersed in an artistic environment that has nurtured her creativity ever since she was a child. Born into a family with a long tradition of art, she was influenced by her handyman grandfather, her advertising illustrator father and her collagist mother. From an early age, she immersed herself in the assiduous reading of comics and graphic novels, developing a pronounced taste for the graphic arts.
For Anne, drawing became a privileged means of expression, where patience, determination and experimentation come together in a constant search for the right line, capable of arousing a multitude of emotions. She is particularly fond of black and white, preferring graphite pencil for its subtlety and. Indian ink for its depth contrast. She also explores other media such as monotype, linocuts and Posca.
For almost ten years, Anne has devoted herself mainly to black and white, using her daily train travel time to sketch her drawings in a small notebook. Immobile in the movement of travel, she gives free rein to her imagination, allowing rich, complex compositions to emerge, populated by enigmatic characters and symbolic animals.
Her artistic approach is marked by a controlled spontaneity, where chance and accident play an essential role in creation. Her drawings reveal a universe teeming with influences, blending fairy tales, mythology, folklore and observations of nature.
Today, Anne juggles her job as a computer graphics designer with her passion for drawing, continuing to explore the many facets of her artistic talent.
