About the author
Julie Shen is a visual artist whose artistic talents in painting and collage were discovered at very tender age at school in Taiwan. Ever since being discovered and known as “the artist” in her class, she was encouraged by her talents and curiosity to explore the possibility of expression through brushes and palette. In 1994, in order to further her “hobby” into a career, she moved to US to pursue higher education in art. Graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art from University of Massachusetts Amherst, she goes on exploring the motifs and techniques on her own as well as participating in workshops and exchanging opinions with other artists. It is her strongest desire to travel all over the world for shows to learn the expressions of other artists from different culture and social backgrounds. She has traveled extensive to Europe and South East and Far East Asia in relate to search for interpretation of art and soul. She believes that it is the education and cultural heritage which shine through an artist makes an art work spiritual and filled with soul.
