Tout en considérant l'idée de répétition comme un phénomène caractéristique de notre société, Luca Resta s'interroge sur sa valeur ontologique, son pouvoir esthétique et ses liens avec les dynamiques contemporaines. Objets communs et gestes, consécutifs et méticuleux, deviennent ainsi des dispositifs d'exploration des constructions sociales et de leur logique sous-jacente.
La sculpture est son principal médium de création. En explorant le potentiel de divers matériaux, ses œuvres cherchent à dépasser les limites de la représentation en tant que telle, à travers la mise en place d'autres registres de lecture et d'interprétation.
La question fondamentale qui anime son travail est la suivante : « Que regardons-nous ? ». Dans le petit objet comme dans l'installation environnementale, le processus créatif se déguise en image ordinaire. Le caractère éphémère de ses œuvres rencontre finalement le spectateur grâce au potentiel esthétique de la série qui cherche à pousser le regard au-delà des limites traditionnelles.
