Renato D’Agostin est né en 1983, à Venise, et c’est là qu’il commence en 2001 à porter un regard photographique sur la ville qui l’entoure. L’atmosphère de la vie citadine nourri sa curiosité et le pousse à partir à la découverte des capitales d’Europe occidentale, avant de rejoindre New York. Dans l’effervescence de la ville, il a la chance de rencontrer le photographe Ralph Gibson et devient son assistant auprès de qui il fera ses armes durant six années. Véritable maître tireur, Renato développe rapidement un langage personnel. Disloquant les sujets de leurs réalités, il dépeint notamment dans sa série “Harmony of chaos” une perception unique de l’espace et joue de la relation entre homme et architecture, provoquant l’imagination du spectateur. Ses œuvres ont fait l’objet de plusieurs expositions en Europe, aux États-Unis et en Asie et ses séries ont fait l’objet de nombreux livres. Ses tirages font partie de grandes collections publiques telles que la Library ofCongress et la Phillips Collection à Washington DC, l’International Center of Photography à New York, ainsi que le LACMA à Los Angeles, le Center for Creative Photography en Arizona et la Maison Européenne de la Photographie à Paris. Après avoir vécu et travaillé pendant 13 ans à New York, Renato revient en 2018 dans sa patrie, l’Italie, eninstallant un studio près de Venise.
