About the author
Stephan Benjamin Reisig, born July 31, 1964 in Dordrecht, Netherlands, currently lives and works in the Netherlands. From a young age, he showed a strong desire to express himself creatively, immersing himself in various artistic activities such as drawing, painting, basket weaving, knitting and photography throughout his schooling.
Reisig first completed a short course to become a drawing and crafts teacher before enrolling at the Maastricht Fashion Academy, where he exhibited his fashion illustrations with modest success. He then worked briefly as an illustrator for a well-known fashion brand before being admitted to the prestigious Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam in 1988, from which he graduated cum laude in 1990.
Working primarily with pencil on paper, Stephan B. Reisig developed a surrealist style influenced by masters such as Albrecht Dürer, Hans Holbein the Younger, Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Lucas Cranach the Elder and Alfred Stevens. His work is distinguished by exceptional technical precision and boundless imagination, mixing figurative and fantastical elements.
Since moving to Amsterdam, Stephan continues to refine his art and participate in various exhibitions. His ability to fuse classical influences with a contemporary and surrealist vision has made him a key artist on the Dutch art scene. His drawings captivate with their meticulous detail and their ability to transport the viewer into dreamlike and enigmatic worlds.
