About the author
Jean Pierre Laydevant is a contemporary French painter and sculptor, registered with the Maison des Artistes. His abstract paintings draw inspiration from mineral and organic elements, utilizing composite materials such as gold, copper, silver leaf, fabric, bitumen, and plants, which he skillfully integrates into his compositions. Through these works, Laydevant discovers his own perception of nature, transcending its tangible reality.
In his figurative series Laydevant depicts stylized figures without faces, set against a theatrical, geometric backdrop. His digital paintings explore two themes: "Southern Lights" and "Urban Solitudes," offering a striking contrast between natural and urban environments.
In his "Fusions" works, Laydevant draws inspiration from ancient civilizations, referencing monuments, frescoes, and mosaics to express the transient nature of all things. His sculptures, crafted from stoneware, reflect the influence of primitive arts, embodying raw and elemental forms.
Currently, Laydevant is working on a project involving composite stoneware and fused glass, continuing his exploration of texture, form, and history.
