About the author
Michal Vojkuvka is a professional photographer who has been pursuing fine art photography since the 1980s. He shoots on film and prints his photographs using classical analog methods, which appeal to him precisely because they are becoming obsolete. SuperSavings, his third solo show, thus features a series of images created in a very specific manner – huge gelatine silver bromide prints measuring 250 x 90 cm, which he decided to produce on his own despite the many possible pitfalls of such an approach. The result is a series of fascinating images. One photograph lent its name to the entire exhibition – SuperSavings. A store sign in the foreground of the photo that can no longer attract anyone, but with its own, new symbolism. The name can also refer to the manner in which the vast majority of photos are now created, creating a flood of cheap digital noise.
Michal Vojkuvka is working and living in Prague (Czechia). His work is present in many private collections.
